HArriet Tubman was a famous former slave who became an abolistionist and rescued a huge amount of slaves. She personally led hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad and to freedom. She was born in maryland in 1820 and she exscaped in 1849.
When the civil war began she continued her mission to save slaves using the underground railroad. She ended up becoming a cook for the army. Shourtly after that she became a spy and an armed scout.
When Tubman become old, she was admitted into a nursing home that was named after her. She later died of pneumonia in 1913.
